Papel Machete presented the "Cantastoria del 1ero de Mayo" at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico in support of the student strike, and on May 28, participated in the event CIRCO De La PLAZA in the Plaza Pública of Mayagüez with a performance of their latest cantastoria, P.R.O.M.E.S.A. CIRCO De La PLAZA is a circus and street theater community event that takes place on the last Sunday of each month and is organized by Vueltabajo, a collective of committed multidisciplinary artists. AgitArte hosted and produced Mijente's second convening since its launch in December 2015. Mijente is a pro-woman, pro-queer, pro-poor, pro-Black, pro-indigenous, pro-climate latinx movement organization in the U.S. We curated cultural programming and Papel Machete performed 2 shows in this weekend-long gathering which brought together Latinx identified change-makers who are building an inclusive political home for our people.
