Boletín marzo: 8M 2025 + Papel Machete en UPR

Last Saturday we commemorated International Working Women’s Day worldwide. The 8th of March (8M) is the product of the struggles that women have waged since the early 20th century to defend their rights, first in working conditions and later for the right to vote. Guided by the perspectives of an inclusive, Black, intersectional feminism, as well as peasant and indigenous struggles, 8M has become a link for local feminist struggles around the world, but especially in the Global South, with struggles and movements fighting for justice, social and economic change, and gender equality. The demand remains the same, to overthrow cis-heteronormative patriarchy and imperialism in order to live in safety and dignity.

El pasado sábado conmemoramos mundialmente el Día Internacional de la Mujer Trabajadora. El 8 de marzo (8M) es producto de las luchas que dieron las mujeres desde principios del siglo XX para defender sus derechos, primero en las condiciones laborales y posteriormente, por su derecho al voto. Más adelante y guiadas por las perspectivas de un feminismo inclusivo, negre, que contempla la interseccionalidad, así como las luchas campesinas e indígenas; el 8M pasó a conectar a las luchas feministas locales a través del mundo, pero sobre todo en el Sur Global, con los esfuerzos y movimientos que luchan por la justicia, el cambio social y económico, así como la equidad de género. El reclamo sigue siendo el mismo, derribar el patriarcado cis heteronormativo y el imperialismo para vivir seguras y en dignidad.
