Papel Machete presented the "Cantastoria del 1ero de Mayo" at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico in support of the student strike, and on May 28, participated in the event CIRCO De La PLAZA in the Plaza Pública of Mayagüez with a performance of their latest cantastoria, P.R.O.M.E.S.A. CIRCO De La PLAZA is a circus and street theater community event that takes place on the last Sunday of each month and is organized by Vueltabajo, a collective of committed multidisciplinary artists. Papel Machete participated in the first event of its third season.

We are feeling energized and inspired after an intensive theater workshop with our partners, Southerners On New Ground (SONG) at Bayard Rustin 2017. We shared several theater techniques with SONG staff, members and partners and, together, explored ways to apply these techniques to SONG's organizing work.

El 4 y 5 de marzo Sugeily Rodriguez Lebron de AgitArte facilitó un taller de construcción de títeres planos a unas 16 mujeres para participar de la jornada del 8 de marzo convocada por la Colectiva Feminista en Construcción. Después de más de 20 horas de intenso trabajo, Papel Machete salimos a la calle junto a cientos de mujeres luchadoras, valientes y trabajadoras. Gracias a todas ellas por su valor, fuerza e inspiración.
The 10th edition of Titeretada will be presented at AgitArte's Casa-Taller Cangrejera, March 15-24, 2017. On March 15th, our artist in residence, Eric Estrada presents "Gigantes como herramienta comunitaria," an illustrated conversation. AgitArte hosted and produced Mijente's second
convening since its launch in December 2015. Mijente is a pro-woman, pro-queer, pro-poor, pro-Black,
pro-indigenous, pro-climate latinx movement organization in the U.S. We curated cultural programming
and Papel Machete performed 2 shows in this weekend-long gathering which brought together Latinx
identified change-makers who are building an inclusive political home for our people.
